Other Bulldog Types

The Olde English Bulldogge is still in the early stages of development and open to interpretation as to how the breed should look. The appearance is the choice of the breeder.

Dedicated breeders of this phenomenal dog, once they have established the characteristics they want, strive for consistent quality and style. This will help to stabilize the breed.

New strains, some separate from the original David Leavitt working dog lines, began evolving and heading in different directions. He created the 'Olde English Bulldogge' name and began the recreation of this now extinct breed.

Separate clubs and registries have been formed, each with a different name for the breed. The Victorian Bulldog (created by Ken Mollett) closely resembles the modern day English Bulldog, but doesn't suffer the same breed related problems.

The newest addition to the registry list is The Renascence Bulldogge Club and their version of the Bulldog of Olde.

All are striving to produce quality bulldogs and should encourage their club members to do the same.
